Fuchsiamania

I have a new novel idea percolating in my head. I've done an inital plot and some basic character sketches. I'm thinking about my theme and emotional arcs. I'm starting some basic research.

Essentially, I'm doing everything I didn't do when writing Illusions.

And I bought a new (as opposed to used???) bottle of nail lacquer. That's right, they don't call it fingernail polish anymore (because then they wouldn't be able to charge as much). It's called Fuchsiamania and it is the exact color my MC would wear. So, in the name of research, I am going to see if having my little piggies lacquered in candy pink will help me get in my MC's head.

What have you done in the name of research?

I love Ulta - they usually have such great sales. Have fun getting into your MC!

I followed my daughter around with a notebook to jot down her cute little prechool sayings. LOL!

Lol, that's great! So clever. I listen to music my characters would listen to. But otherwise, I just do simple research to learn more about their jobs or where they live.

That is a REALLY good idea! Next time I get slack with my writing, I'm painting my nails...something with glitter...

Oh, heavens, I've done some crazy stuff! Haven't painted my nails yet, though. But I've eaten strange food, researched guns, went and shot guns, practice fist fights in my living room with my husband, and well, I just have fun! I love research. :)

Like Cindy, I listen to music my characters would listen to or music that might be playing during the scene I'm writing if it were a movie. It's great inspiration. Love the nail polish. It's an obsession of mine.

Hhhmmm, since I am writing a medieval, I haven't really done anything to research. I suppose I could go ride a horse, or find a bush to...you know...or eat out of a dried bread bowl (trencher). But alas, I am too spoiled! :)
