Good To Know You...Give a Girl a Pen Post

I've copied my Good To Know You post from Give a Girl a Pen. Please join in the discussion there. Thanks!

When my husband comes home from work the first thing he does is empty his pockets onto the counter. I used to have a bowl for him to empty it into. It overflowed with junk. So we got a basket. Within a week, he’d filled it to the brim. I refuse to clean them out, so they are now floating around in a junk drawer. And I have resigned myself to my husband’s routine.

When I come home, the first thing I do is kick off my shoes. At one point, I had to pick up seven pairs of shoes out of my living room. And my version of picking up shoes is tossing them willy-nilly into my closet so that I’m searching for three minutes around the closet floor the next time I want to wear them. Yep, that’s my routine.

What routines do your characters have? Do they double check the locks on their doors before going to bed? Do they water their plants in a certain order? Do they always brush their teeth after applying lipstick and have to reapply?

I'm working on one character, who for some odd reason, keeps rubbing her cheeks red. Not sure why she does this but I'm sure I'll get to the bottom of it.

I have a hard time coming up with unique habits for my characters! Thanks for helping to get my wheels churning today!

One of my characters runs his hand through his hair when he is nervous. He drives fast and laughs a lot. He is a good person deep inside, but a creep on the surface. At an underage drinking party, he pretended to be drunk (he does not drink because both of his parents had serious alcohol problems) so that he could make the police officer look stupid when he blew a 0.0 in the breathalyzer. He is a mathematical genius who cannot read, a young man that an exclusive private school took a chance on because of his mathematical potential. He is the most loyal friend imaginable, even when his friends do something he does not approve of or agree with. He cannot walk by mirrors without looking and enjoying, and he throws darts at his (well-worn) dartboard when angry and plays aggressive sports all yearlong so that he can keep himself from letting the violence within him arise.

Wow ... not sure if you wanted that much : ) I just couldn't stop.
